Introducing Kaos 16th March 2002 Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is "Kaos" posh name Wizaland Ebony Kaos. I was born in Wellington, Shropshire on the 25th November 2001, but have come to live in Stoke-on-Trent. When my brothers and sisters and me were born it was very cold and wet. We were all born in the house, but after a short while were moved to our outdoor kennel. It rained most of the time, but we didn't mind cos we had a warm, dry, cosy kennel to go into if we wanted (which we didn't, well not often) but we all wanted to stay outside and have fun. I am told that we all learned to skate before we learned to walk. When we were about 5 weeks old people started coming to the cottage to take a look at us. They talked a lot, fussed us a lot, drank a lot of coffee and then went home. Later, much later some of them came back and took some of my brothers with them. Then, one very wet day, this woman from Stoke-on-Trent came back to have another look at us and chose me to go and live with her and her dogs. There are 3 other Border Collies here. Denva, who is old and not well, but he's OK. I like Tarot best of all. She is Denva's daughter and is also rather old, but she plays with me. Wispa doesn't like me much and keeps showing me her teeth. OK, so shes got teeth. So what? I've started going for walks with her. Perhaps she'll soften up. Lastly there's the black Swedish thing. She's 'orrible. Wont have anything to do with me. OK if that's the way she wants it, but she's missing out on a lot of fun with me. There's a lot to do here. I've got to re-arrange everything. So far, I've managed to make mud out of nothing. My human Mam doesn't know where I found it from but one day I came in from the yard with the stuff up to my knees and then spread it all over the tumble dryer and the kitchen wall. I've had to re-arrange the tiles on the kitchen wall. There's a few missing now. Then there's the wallpaper in the front room. I don't like it and I've started to remove it. I managed to get one piece of it off the wall without ripping it. It came off almost in one whole strip. Oh, I forgot I've started digging a hole in the skirting board in the kitchen I'm almost down to the brick. Also, the kitchen floor tiles need replacing, so I've started to remove them. I've got a lot of toys to play with. There's a yellow smiley ball, and several balls on ropes and other balls and thingies. I've got a green dumbbell thing, which squeaks, as well as a disk thingy. When Mam took Wispa to Crufts (I think thats a sort of shop for dog things) she brought me back a new squeaky toy, but while she was on the phone (that's a sort of long thing that she talks to) I removed the squeak so that went in the bin. I love to play fetch with my Mam. Sometimes I'll fetch something to play with while she's drinking her coffee and usually land up on her lap with coffee all over the place. When Mam went to Crufts, I went to stay for the day with a man who has 2 whippets (I've been there once or twice) but I dont think he's recovered yet. He's told my Mam to take me back when I'm a veteran. Mam asked him if I had been good and he said, I don't know, she hasn't been still long enough to find out. Don't understand what he means. I'm going for a rest now it's hard work trying to type with my clumsy paws. I've been told about Jules and how he died. All his toys have been put away and I am not allowed to have them. I will try to be a good girl, but I think that might be a bit hard at the moment. I'm going to have a diary thing like he did. I have read it (clever aren't I?). I hope I can be as good as he was, just for Mam. See you all soon. 27th April 2003 I'm back. It's been a long time since I've written in my diary but I have been very busy. I've had to learn to read and write and I'm also learning how to use a computer so that I can write my own diary. I've learned how to hold the mouse with my paw, and know how to right click and left click, then I touch something else and there's an almighty crash and the screen goes black!! Then Mam goes mad and tells me to leave things alone. So I go to play with my bally and get tangled up in the computer cables and she shouts at me again. A lot of things have happened since I last wrote. Denva and Tarot have gone to the Rainbow Bridge (wherever that is) - they were both old. Perhaps it's some kind of Rest Home for old dogs. Willie has joined us. Just after he came, one night, very late, there was a loud crashing noise from outside at the back. Mam went out and took Willie and Lucy with her and there was a lot of shouting and she came back and went to phone the police. Mam said that some silly person had fallen through the roof of our garage. What he was doing up there, we have no idea, but if you see someone coughing and wheezing and with a limp it'll be him, cos the roof of the garage is asbestos. I've done a bit more re-arranging of things and am quite good at taking food off the work surface without Mam noticing (I think). I've been to a few shows and I think I did well because Mam said I'd qualified for Crufts. I don't know what that is but it sounds good. I go to the park quite a bit. It's good there because there's lots of bottles for me to play with. I like running about and playing and stuff like that. I play in the yard with Willie a lot. He is actually my half brother, but I don't know which half. Must dash as it's getting near my bedtime. Be in touch soon. 1st May 2003 I'm back. I'm so excited. Mam bought some new toys the other day and they arrived in a big box this morning. Oh! Joy! There's so many of them. Squeaky balls (smiley ones), pegs, big balls, maggots, mice, a handbag, newspapers, oh, I can't remember all of them. Mam gave me a couple of balls, a maggot and a squeaky peg and I've got the handbag. Willie had a newspaper, but he's chewed it up. Mam left the box on a chair and went off to do something and I upset it and got all the toys out. Shucks. She's put them all back again and taken the box away. On Tuesday Mam was on the phone (the cordless thing) and I tried to give her a toy and knocked it out of her hand and it fell to the floor in pieces. She was not amused. It's working again though. Willie knocked her handbag on the floor and the mobile phone fell out. Hope that's alright. Can't be bothered writing any more. I must go and do some serious playing with my new toys. Bye for now. 31st May 2003 Back again. I've been very busy just lately, playing a lot. I found the toy box in the bathroom and opened it and got some more toys out. The weather has been so hot lately, not that it's stopped me fooling around. I've made the usual mess in the backyard. I think Mam's given up on me. She says she doesn't know how I get so dirty. Easy, peasy. Guess what? I've got a penfriend (or perhaps that should be pawfriend). He's a Border Collie and he lives in Australia. I had a letter from him the other day. He says I can put his letters into my Chronicles, so here goes with the first one. "Dear Kaos, My mum laughed when she read about you. My name is "Khayos Man Overboard"but Mum named me Augustus and now I am called "Gus" "Gustus" "DisGustus"(when she found me cleaning out the cats' litter tray) Tonite she called me "Custard" heaven knows why!!! she's a bit odd sometimes. I was born on 9th February this year one day before mum's birthday. I am now 15 weeks old. I have a big brother Jester Allan Border Collie he is 12 now and they thought he was going to that rainbow place so that's why they got me. He is fine but his heart is a bit frail so I don't bite him too much. he does play with me a bit. My sister is called Harlequin Rose Dad says she is a real bimbo and she eats too much but she lets me play and now I have made lovely dread locks behind both her ears. She is 9. Mum takes us all to the river every day so that we can run "off lead"I have heaps of fun but yesterday I neally fell to my death into the Yarra, my friend Buffy's Mum saved me. Then I fell into a big hole and Mum couldn't see me and she screamed. I had to go back on my lead and Mum had to have a cup of coffee I HAD to go to Puppy school and because I am a border collie I topped the class. I was a bit boring but we did some agility which was fun but we wern't allowed to do much because of our bones. I now HAVE to go to BIG school on Sundays. They say I'm a "natural"but I still have to go. Guess what? Mum went out today and because she is scared someone might steal me I was locked in the conservatory. It was sooo boring that I thought I would clean out the fish tank. Mum was NOT happy. I love living in Australia. I have heard of Crufts. If I'm very clever may be I can come and visit you as it seems we are related because of the name Khayos. I will write to again soon . I have a teddy bear and want to play with him before bed time. Lick Lick from Gus" I wrote back and asked if I could copy his letter in my Chronicles and he said yes. Here's his reply. "Dear Kaos, Mum said its quite fine to put me anywhere !!! not sure what she means sometimes. She said "chronicals"or something. I was too busy gardning to take much notice. I thought the crab apple was looking shabby so I've trimmed it a bit to help Dad. I helped Mum water the garden yesterday and it was fun but then she put me in the bath. NOT NICE, but I was allowed to have the blow dryer so then I was happy again. Awful Jester got a NEW trampoline yesterday. Mum said it is because he is old and can't sleep on the floor, mean old Jess wont share it so now I wont give him a piece of my raw chicken wing that I sometimes save for him. Harley is lying in the sun. Truely that girl doesn't even know how to scratch herself she is so lazy. might go and stir her up a bit and re-do the left side of her dread locks. Love from your friend Gustus. Your Mum sounds like fun." Gus sounds good fun and where he lives sounds nice too. I think I might like to go and live there, but I won't tell Mam 'cos she might be upset if I left home. Must go, cos it's very late and Mam needs her beauty sleep. Get back to you later. Bye for now. 12th February 2005 Hi Peeps, It's me - back again after such a long time. Why, you might ask yourselves, has it taken me so long? Well, for starters, 'er indoors took me pen away and wouldn't let me touch the computer - she said I kept breaking it. Not true - it was very sick and eventually died. Despite all the threats of hammers and hatchets, it still died. We lost all the information saved, including all the contact details of my cousin Gus in Australia. The VDU, again in the midst of threats of violence, also gave up the ghost and the whole lot ended up in the bin! We now have a new one, which I'm not allowed to touch. I haven't heard her threaten this one at all. Maybe I was asleep! The only thing I've heard her say is something about the something or other programme. She says she doesn't like it! Trouble with her is that she expects everything to happen - now, immediately, if not sooner!!! Must be something to do with her former life. We have new travelling companions, Martin and his BC, Star. Last year he had a new super van - it's big!!!!! It's also very comfortable. We each have a cage to ourselves (no, silly, not me Mam, she sits up front). Each cage has it's own carpeting as well as bedding. It also has it's own gazebo, which we took advantage of at one show 'cos it was very hot, and a fridge, would you believe? Unfortunately the van was broken into the other day and Martin's stereo was stolen. The thieves had by-passed the alarm system and ripped the wiring out. We did quite a lot of shows last year and once again I managed to qualify for Crufts (I still don't know what "Crufts" is - didn't go again last year). The "old bat" (Wispa, not me Mam) did very well too. She won Veteran Bitch (7-9 years old) at the BCC of Great Britain Veteran of the Year for the second year running. She won quite a few Veteran classes last year as well as a Reserve CC (Hey Mam, these are my Chronicles and should be about me, not Wispa). We both had a new handler called Dave. He's very nice. I've done quite well with him. I've actually won a few classes. Jo still handles us sometimes, when Dave's either busy or not at a show. I've done well with Jo too, but then I would, wouldn't I? I'm so pretty. I won my class at West of England BC Championship Show. (Kaos, Jo handled Wispa there too - winning the Veteran Bitch Class and the RCC - Mam). Mam has not been very well over the last 2 years - something wrong with her knee - but she's OK now. (Don't tempt providence, Kaos, Mam). Well, I think that brings us up to date and to the beginning of this year. We didn't go to the first Championship Show of the Year - we couldn't - Nanny Sue was judging. Better go, Mam's supervising all this and says I've done enough for now. Catch ya later. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee. 19th December 2005 Brrrrrrrr - it's getting very cold now. We've had a lot of frost and it's so dark in the mornings and gets dark earlier at night so we don't spend much time outdoors. I've been to a few shows this year and have now actually got my stud book number - that means that I've qualified for Crufts for life, so don't really need to go to any shows - unless, of course, I want to become a Champion. We have a new kid here - called Jade. She's a pain in the neck. She's never still, barks a lot, squeals a lot and is a general nuisance. She's almost one year old - on the 28th of this month actually. Enough about her, let her explain things for herself. I've had a couple of letters from my cousin Gus in Oz - see below. Apparently he now considers himself Top Dog. The first one I received in July. "Hi Kaos, we found you again, why did you chew up the other computer silly girl? I have missed you a lot. I am now nearly 2years and 5 months old, Mum is madly in love with me, she thinks I'm "it and a bit" and guess what Kaos, poor old Jester went to the Rainbow Bridge and Mum was very sad. I spent days and days licking salt off her face. My Mum said she will write to your Mum and tell her. The best thing is that now I'm the Alpha dog. WOOF WOOF !! and luvin' it. I've sorted out the 2 cats and fat old Harley Rose, its quite fun but I do miss Jester a lot, he was a very wise Old Man Mum said and she thinks I was lucky to have had him around for 2 years to teach me how to be so sweet. (she really did say that Kaos) I am doing Obedience and more obedience and we are doing targeting. I Love Sundays 'cos I get lots of junk food like liver treats for being so cool!! Yep I've got myself eating out of the palm of her hand !! Is that how it goes "K"? Anyway Mum will write to your Mum soon. I've got to go to bed now because I've just pulled out all that white stuff from inside a sqeeky tiger. Why it was there I have no idea so in my usual helpful way I was tidying things up. Honestly Mothers! NOT HAPPY! Send you another email soon . Lick Lick from Gus." This one was received in November. "Hello Kaos, Mum and I and fat old Harley-Rose went walking to the river today and Mum said she had been thinking 'bout you and your Mum (my Aunty Brenda) and how it must be getting colder on your side of the world and that I had better get my paws working or Santa wont visit! Reeeealy! I luv my Christmas stocking so I know she is kidding .Went swimming with our friends Neva (she is a sexy labrador) and her brother Scamp and sister Poppi; they are sort of bits of maltese and shitzu, I think they are cute. We had lots of fun I WISH your Mum would let you come to play! Silly old Harley-Rose couldn't get out of the river; Mum said not to tease as she is a wonderful swimmer but is getting old and has arthritis and so I was kind and let her get under the hose with me when we got home. The river is muddy so it is fun to get hosed. Guess what Kaos, I pulled Mum off a chair and she hurt her shoulder, I gave her lots of licks but she was crying and had to go to hospital for an operation. It means I haven't had to go to Dog Club for ages but I miss my friends.I really didn't mean to hurt her but I saw a wonderful bird it was soo fast that I chased it but Mum came too and spoilt my fun. how are you getting on with your new sibling! Mum has given me the most awful news ever; she thinks I need someone to keep me company as H Rose is getting old,and so she is waiting for a puppy from my breeder. Yuk now I will need to share toys but Mum thinks it will be good for me.(don't agree Mum I wont be favourite anymore!) Yuk!Yuk!Yuk! Must go Kaos, I hope SHE has forgiven you for the computer debacle. Lots of lick licks from your Ossie mate GUS ( LICK )" Well, I think that's it for this year - short and sweet - unless I get a Crimbo card from Gus. Merry Christmas everybody and I hope you all get lotsa doggy goodies and toys to play with.
