Bryn. Well what can one say about Bryn? A friend said he was autistic. I preferred the word "dysfunctional". He had the memory span of a gnat!! He had to be the most exasperating dog I've ever owned. He'd do a super round of heelwork, only to go out on retrieve and stand there as if to say "what have come out here for?" Have you ever had to chastise a dog for something only for him to stand there wagging his tail and licking your face? That was Bryn.
He had a run-off in B for first place, only to blow it because he thought he was doing scent and not send away.
He did compete in agility (well, he did 2 shows), but couldn't cope with single poles. He would run under them.
Somehow, he managed to win his novices and 3 A's and many, many places in B, including a second when my friend Lesley worked him because I had an ankle injury. Lesley had never worked him before and I handed him over to her and walked away, only to be met by Bryn coming round the corner the other way, followed by Lesley, muttering under her breath something about a something or other dog! There was another time in B when he was joint leader, with scent to do. The other dog went first and brought the peg back, not the cloth. Bryn went out, found the right cloth, brought it back, with peg still attached, and deposited it at my feet and stood looking at me as if to say Well, I've brought it back, now what? Couldn't you just kill them?
