Died 3rd January 1996

Hips 8:9 = 17. Eyes Normal

Jess was my first proper Border Collie. I had seen Sue Large's dogs on the benches at shows and had grown to know Mist, Mac, Jack and Breeze very well. I was impressed with their temperaments and felt that the time had come for me to have one. I enquired of Sue and she had a litter due - Wizaland Breeze to Sh Ch Reakasso Ryan. When the puppies were about 4 weeks old I went to see them. They were tricolours. Some were already booked, but there were one or two left and I chose a bitch. When she was 6 months old I started entering her at shows with a little success, but she was not everybody's cup of tea because she was not classically marked.

I initially had her for obedience, but Jess was very hard to motivate. It was hard work getting her to play. I did succeed and she became ball crazy. So much so that if she lost the ball in the park, she wouldn't come home until she had found it. We did a couple of open obedience shows, but, as said, she was hard work, so we carried on with breed showing. She qualified for Crufts at Welsh KC (my lucky show)

She had one litter to Denva. I kept a black and white bitch out of this litter, Tarot. Sadly Jess died at 7, (after whelping a litter to Merrybrook Moriaty), along with her puppies, I still blame myself for her death.
